Wang Dongjin    

Chairman, Secretary of Party Leadership Group    

Born in July 1962, Mr. Wang Dongjin is a professor-level senior engineer. Mr. Wang received a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Drilling from Development Department of China University of Petroleum (the former East China Petroleum Institute) in 1982 and a Doctor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering Management from China University of Petroleum-Beijing in 2012. In July 1995, he was appointed Deputy Director-General of Jiangsu Petroleum Exploration Bureau. In December 1997, he was appointed Vice President of China National Oil & Gas Exploration and Development Corporation (“CNODC”) and concurrently President of Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company and President of CNPC International (Nile) Ltd. In December 2000, he started to hold concurrent positions of President of CNPC International (Kazakhstan) Ltd. and President of Aktobe Munai Gas Corp. In October 2002, he became President and Vice Party Secretary of CNODC. In January 2004, he became Assistant President of China National Petroleum Corporation (“CNPC”) and Vice Chairman, President and Vice Party Secretary of CNODC. In April 2004, he became Assistant President of CNPC and Vice Chairman, President and Party Secretary of CNODC. In September 2008, he was appointed Party Leadership Group Member and Vice President of CNPC. In May 2011, he was concurrently appointed Director of PetroChina Company Limited (“PetroChina”). In July 2013, he was concurrently appointed President of PetroChina. From May 2014 to March 2018, he served as Vice President and Party Leadership Group Member of CNPC and Vice Chairman and President of PetroChina. In March 2018, Mr. Wang was appointed Director and Vice Secretary of Party Leadership Group of CNOOC. In October 2018, Mr. Wang was appointed President of CNOOC. Since October 2019, he has served as Chairman of the Board and Secretary of Party Leadership Group of CNOOC. In November 2019, he was also appointed Chairman of CNOOC Limited.
