On September 5, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HKPO) opened the 2008/09 season with "Li Yundi's Ravel" at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Concert Hall, with CNOOC Ltd. as the opening sponsor. This was the first time for CNOOC Ltd. to sponsor an orchestra organization in Hong Kong.

As a responsible listed company in Hong Kong, CNOOC Ltd. has actively participated in the local public-welfare cultural activities. By now the company has provided support to the exchange program of the Chinese University of Hong Kong for three consecutive years, and it was the title sponsor of the scientific investigation ship Dayang Yihao's Visit to Hong Kong in 2007. These activities have won recognition and appreciation from the public.
