On July 31, 2007,  CNOOC  carbon dioxide degradable plastic (PPC) project began construction. Its operation will lay a solid foundation for CNOOC to further exploit and utilize carbon dioxide, an exhaust gas harmful to environment. The designed annual production capacity of the project is 3000 ton degradable plastic (the largest of its kind in the world is 1000 ton), and it is to be on stream in June, 2008.

PPC is a new completely biodegradable product which is high value-added and environmental friendly. It could be entirely degraded into water and CO2, and has the characteristics of transparency, degradability, and bio-compatibility, etc. Its products could substitute for many non-degradable products used in medication, food, agriculture and other areas.
