On the morning of January 16, President Fu Chengyu met with Mr. Zephirin Diabre, Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and Associate Administrator of UNDP. They exchanged views on issues in regard to the United Nations and China as well as Sino-Africa economic cooperation.

Zephirin Diabre fully affirmed the great achievements China has made in its reform and opening up to the outside world and the significance of these achievements for other developing countries, commended China for its generosity in helping Africa in its economic and social development, and also encouraged enterprises from Africa and China to strengthen cooperation.

Fu Chengyu introduced CNOOC’s history and development. He said, China and Africa cherished a long-lasting friendship. As a state-owned oil company, CNOOC is ready to share experiences and seek cooperation opportunities with African partners. In expanding its overseas business, CNOOC would like to help African nations in developing their energy industry and building infrastructure to make contributions for local economic and social development.
