The Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party approved to set up the Communist Party Group in CNOOC, and appointed Zhong Yiming as Secretary of the CNOOC Communist Party Group.

CNOOC started the third round offshore bidding. The areas for bidding include 7 blocks in Dongsha-Shenhu area of the Pearl River Mouth Basin in the South China Sea, covering an area of 32,075 sq.km.
