CNOOC singed a PSC with Devon Energy Corporation (Devon, NYSE:DVN) for deepwater block 42/05 in the Pear River Mouth Basin of South China Sea.

CNOOC entered into a PSC for block 17/08 in the Pearl River Mouth Basin of the Eastern South China Sea with Newfield Exploration Company (Newfield, NYSE:NFX).

December CNOOC’s 12 million tpa refinery kicked off construction in Daya Bay of Guangdong province.

Zhoghai Trust & Investment Co., Ltd., together with National Council for Social Security Fund, Ministry of Railway and Bank of Communications signed agreement in Beijing. Under the agreement, Zhoghai Trust & Investment Co., Ltd., will issue a one-year facility to help finance RMB 3 billion from National Council for Social Security Fund to Ministry of Railway.

November CNOOC Limited successfully completed the drilling of BZ19-4N-2D, an appraisal well in Bohai Bay. During the tests, the well flew about 770 barrels of oil per day and 0.15 million cubic feet of gas through a 7.94 mm choke.
November Standard & Poor’s upgraded the credit rating of CNOOC, CNOOC Limited and CNOOC Finance Co., Ltd. by one notch to A-.

CNOOC made a new discovery of Jinxian (JX) 1-1 via the wildcat well JX1-1-2D drilled on JX1-1 structure in Liaodong Bay, in the Northeastern part of Bohai Bay. Drill stem tests were conducted on various intervals. Through 7.94 mm and 11.91 mm chokes, the well flowed about 1000 barrels of crude and more than 0.73 million cubic feet of gas per day.

October CNOOC signed a framework agreement with Petrovietnam to jointly tap oil and gas resources in the Beibu Gulf of South China Sea.

CNOOC inked a PSC for Block 03/27 and a geophysical agreement for Block 28/20 with Texas American Resources Company (TARC).

September CNOOC together with its employees donated RMB 10 million to the typhoon affected regions in China and Louisiana affected by Katrina.
September CNOOC signed a MOU with PTT, the national oil company of Thailand and PTTEP to seek cooperation opportunities for oil and gas exploration and development, as well as the development of mature oilfields with expiring contract term.

CNOOC Limited achieved an important discovery of natural gas in the eastern South China Sea. The initial assessment on the two important gas fields of Panyi 30-1 and Panyu 34-1 discovered by the company at the end of 2002 confirmed that the estimated storage of the two gas fields was about 1.5 trillion cubic feet (tcf). Itwas the first important discovery of natural gas achieved in the Pearl River Mouth Basin in South China Sea, and 100% of the equity of the two gas fields is possessed by CNOOC Limited.

The signing ceremony for financing agreement of Fujian LNG project was held in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian province.

June The Multi-functional investigation vessel Hai Yang Shi You 709 started offshore operation. The vessel was invested and owned by COSL and built by Dalian New Shipyard.

CNOOC Limited proposed a merger with Unocal Corporation (Unocal; NYSE: UCL), offering US$67 in cash per Unocal share. The offer values Unocal at approximately US$18.5 billion.
May CNOOC Limited announced that its LD4-2 oilfield in Bohai Bay came on stream ahead of schedule.

Aegon-CNOOC Life Insurance Co., Ltd opened its Beijing Branch. It is the first branch of the company in China.

April CNOOC Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary CNOOC Belgium BVBA, signed an agreement with a Canada based company, MEG Energy Corp. (MEG) to acquire a 16.69% stake in MEG. The Company paid 150 million Canadian dollars for the stake.

CNOOC signed agreements with Hainan Provincial Stat-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, Hainan Development Holding Company and Hainan Provincial Government for the consolidation of the assets of Basuo port, acquisition of the equities of Yangpu power Plant and Hainan LNG project in Haikou, the capital of Hainan province. The three agreements include a total investment of RMB 8.38 billion.

CNOOC Finance Co., Ltd. was rated A2 and BBB+ by Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s, becoming the first Chinese financial service company granted credit ratings by international credit rating agencies.

March CNOOC Limited signed a contract with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), for the 280,000 DWT FPSO vessel hull for the PengLai oilfields. It is the biggest FPSO hull ever built in China.
March CNOOC, PNOC and PetroVietnam signed a Tripartitite Agreement for Joint Marine Seismic Undertaking in the Agreement Area in the South China Sea in Manila. The three companies will jointly collect 2-D and 3-D seismic data and process the existing 2-D seismic data in the agreement area of over 140,000 square kilometers in the South China Sea.
March CNOOC signed a PSC with Primeline Energy China limited (PECL) and Primeline Petroleum Corporation (PPC) for Block 25/34 in the East China Sea.
February CNOOC and Kerr-McGee China Petroleum Ltd. signed a PSC for Block 43/11 in the Pearl River Mouth Basin of the South China Sea. Located around 350 kilometers southeast to Hong Kong, the block has acreage of 9,729 square kilometers, with water depth between 1,500 meters and 2,000 meters. It was the first deepwater exploration contract CNOOC signed with Kerr-McGee Petroleum Limited.

Shanghai LNG Ltd. was established, which signaled that CNOOC’s cooperation with Shanghai Municipal Government over LNG entered into a substantial phase. CNOOC has kicked off the construction for its four LNG projects in Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang and Shanghai.

The consortium composed of CNOOC Limited, China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation and Asia Company signed PSC for Block C1, C2 and M2 in Myanmar with Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE).
