CNOOC 36-1 Bitumen

CNOOC 36-1 Heavy Traffic Bitumen has become the best brand in China and accounts for 25% of the total domestic heavy traffic bitumen production. In recent years, China Offshore Oil & Gas Development & Utilization Company has provided Hard Bitumen 30, Hard Bitumen 50, SBS Modified Bitumen, Rubber Modified Bitumen and Emulsified Bitumen to the market with positive feedbacks from clients. In addition its annual production of naphthenic products reached 1.5 million tons.

China Offshore Oil & Gas Development & Utilization Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNOOC, has a registered capital of RMB 320 million with total assets reaching RMB5.13 billion. The company's core business is the production and marketing of mid and downstream products including CNOOC 36-1 heavy traffic bitumen, low sulfur fuel oil and naphthenic products in China.


·CNOOC 36-1 Heavy Traffic Bitumen – AH-50

Heavy crude oil is used to produce CNOOC 36-1 heavy traffic bitumen AH-50 via atmospheric/vacuum distillation, oxidation and blending. The product is applicable to the pavement of heavy traffic roads. It has good high temperature stability and appropriate low temperature properties.

Product Performance

Its viscosity is higher than 300Pa.s at 60℃, meeting the requirements of both PG70-16 and PG70-22. It can be applied to the paving of high-grade highway in areas hot in summer and cold in winter. The mixture has high elastic modulus, and its high temperature properties are equivalent to those of modified bitumen. It has excellent rutting resistance at high temperature and may replace modified bitumen as a middle course and base course of high-grade highways.



·CNOOC 36-1 Hard Bitumen


Heavy crude oil is used to produce CNOOC 36-1 hard bitumen via atmospheric/vacuum distillation, oxidation and blending. The product is applicable to the construction of heavy traffic bitumen pavement. This high viscosity bitumen was developed specially for long lifespan heavy traffic bitumen pavement.

Product Performance

The product has high viscosity (higher than 2000Pa.s at 60℃) and low penetration (20~40 1/10mm at 25℃). It has high viscosity and high shear resistance, and notable advantages in enhanced modulus of mixture and rutting resistance.



·CNOOC 36-1 SBS Modified Bitumen

Road bitumen or special material for modified bitumen is used to produce CNOOC 36-1 SBS modified bitumen via modification process, and SBS thermoplastic elastomer is added. This product is mainly applied to the middle course and surface course of high-grade highways to improve the pavement performance.

Product Performance

SBS thermoplastic elastomer is the preferred modifier for modified bitumen. It has good bitumen compatibility and can form a superfine dispersion system. It has good storage stability, good high temperature properties and low temperature properties and good elasticity within a wide rage of temperatures. At high temperature, the elasticity of modified bitumen decreases rapidly with the increase in temperature, contributing to the good processibility of modified bitumen.



·CNOOC 36-1 Rubber Modified Bitumen

Road bitumen or special material for modified bitumen is used to produce CNOOC 36-1 rubber modified bitumen via bitumen modification process, and crumb rubber is added. Different from dry process and wet process applied in rubber bitumen production at home and abroad, this process brings the main performance index of rubber modified bitumen in line with the requirements of SBS modified bitumen via physical and chemical reactions including the blending of matrix bitumen and the controlled depolymerization and crosslinking of crumb rubber. This solves the problems of crumb rubber modified bitumen produced by conventional processes, such as high viscosity, segregation and poor low temperature ductility.

Product Performance

The main performance index of this product can meet the requirements of SBS I-D modified bitumen as stipulated in the Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavements (JTG F40-2004). Its viscosity and elastic recovery can be controlled. It is widely used in new pavement construction, old pavement reconstruction and cement pavement overlay construction, and may replace SBS modified bitumen as the surface course of high-grade highway. Therefore, it is a typical example of resource conservation, circular economy and resource utilization of wastes.
